Maran Htoi Aung, Editor, Kachin Waves. Maran is an ethnic Kachin who grew up in a village, and received journalism training in Yangon before returning to his home state which is the scene of ongoing conflict between the Kachin Independence Army and the Myanmar military. Kachin Waves is dedicated to reporting on Kachin state issues, and Maran helps train reporters and educate villagers. His interests are reading and football. For his research project, he wants to look at media literacy and combating fake news.
2018
Kyaw Myo Sithu Kyi is a senior reporter and assistant news editor with Myanmar International Television in Yangon. He has covered news events in Myanmar and abroad, and has a special interest in environmental issues. For his AJF research project Kyaw Myo will examine the impact of climate change and ways to raise awareness. He enjoys reading and travelling.

Aye Sapay Phyu. Chief Sub-Editor, Myanmar Times, Yangon. Aye is a journalist who has risen through the ranks from reporting to supervising and mentoring younger colleagues. She is keen to focus on water resource management, water scarcity and how to avoid a water-related tragedy and will be speaking to Singapore’s water experts.

Myo Thant. Editor-in-charge of Mizzima Daily, overseeing its editorial operations. He mentors reporters and coordinates online convergence. He wants to study how media outlets are evolving to meet changing needs of media consumers.

Ko Ko Gyi. Senior reporter with the English-language Mizzima Business Weekly Magazine, Yangon. Mizzima is a media company that has returned from exile.

Myo Myat Myat Tun. Sub-editor, The Trade Times (Myanmese), Yangon, covering politics and business for a new newspaper launched in December. Project: Myanmar media’s manpower needs.
Tu Tu Tha. Senior reporter and copy desk editor for Burmese edition, Irrawaddy (Burmese exile media), Chiang Mai, Thailand. Project: Burmese in Singapore.
2010
Nwet Kay Khine. A writer for Living Color Media. Has won fellowships and other training awards from South East Asia Press Alliance, US Embassy and other organisations. Wants to study the role of new media in a transitional democracy.
