
AJF Connect 2024 & Editors Forum 2024

AJF Connect was held over three days from 23 to 25 August 2024. A total of 143 alumni from the previous 14 batches attended. The editors of the 2024 Fellows were invited for the AJF Editors Forum held alongside the reunion. In all, the three-day programme had 175 journalists, editors, past and current Fellows.
A highlight was a forum on artificial intelligence held on 23 August, with a keynote address by Professor Charlie Beckett, founding director of Polis, at the London School of Economics and Political Science and a panel discussion on AI and its impact on the media and journalists. That was followed by a dialogue with Minister for Digital Development and Information Josephine Teo, moderated by Singaporean journalist Zuraidah Ibrahim, executive managing editor of Hong Kong’s South China Morning Post.





The AJF Editors Forum held a lunchtime roundtable discussion, moderated by Lydia Lim (Dean of SPH Media Academy and Head of Capability and Organisation Development), visiting editors discussed challenges confront newsrooms, including AI, training and development, journalists’ safety and wellbeing.



At the reunion’s Make A Difference session on 24 August, several AJF alumni did short presentations on their passion projects, what being AJF Fellows meant to them, life in and beyond journalism, and more.



AJF Connect concluded on 25 August with a panel discussion on the role of content creators and their impact on newsmaking. The panel was moderated by Cherian George and featured known content producers who are behind Teh Tarik with Walid, The Weird and the Wild, Political Prude and the Woke Salaryman.
